How we get paid
You never pay us. Here's where the money comes from, and why it doesn't touch the numbers on this site.
100gig is run by one person, a network engineer who builds and operates fiber in California. It exists to do two things: show what business fiber actually costs, and get you a real quote if you want one.
Tel-One answers the phone and sells the circuit. When you ask for a quote on this site, your request goes to Tel-One Network Services, Inc., a California carrier licensed by the CPUC (U-7327-C). 100gig's operator is a partner in Tel-One. Tel-One quotes you directly, and if you buy, the contract is with Tel-One. Where Tel-One resells or rides another carrier's network, that carrier may pay Tel-One a commission. That comes out of the carrier's side; it doesn't change the price you pay.
If Tel-One can't serve you, we may refer you to a partner. Some addresses are outside Tel-One's reach. Then we may pass your request to a partner carrier or telecom agent who can serve it. If they sell you a circuit, they may pay 100gig or Tel-One a referral commission. We'll tell you who we're sending your request to before we send it, and you can say no.
The price benchmarks are not for sale. Every number on the price pages comes from public sources: E-Rate contract data published by USAC, and Lightyear's published pricing guides, which we credit where used. We don't adjust the benchmarks to make a Tel-One quote look good, and no carrier pays to appear in them. If a Tel-One quote sits above the median on our own pages, you'll see that in the checker like anyone else.
What we don't do. We don't sell your information to lists or data brokers. We don't run ad pixels. We don't take placement fees. There are no paid rankings, because there are no rankings.
Why we're telling you. A site that publishes price benchmarks and also sells circuits has an obvious conflict. The honest way to handle it is to say so wherever it matters, which is why there's a line under each price table and in the quote form that links here.
